There is a small Camp in Northern Kenya in the Laikipia Region which has got extremely popular all of a sudden due to a melanistic leopard in it's surroundings. Researchers say there is actually more than 1 melanistic one there but this one is very habituated amongst cars and people. Sightings are extremely common. We went there last week for 4 days and in 9 game drives, we saw her on 8 drives!! Some of the photos we got are beyond belief - of her stalking, hunting, carrying a kill, even fighting with a 'normal' male! Her name is Giza which means darkness in Swahili. Here are two photos for starters. Her eyes are so piercing!
