Great Horned Owl at Sunset

This is the mother of the owlets I've been photographing. She is about 100 feet up and the tree she is in about 50 feet from the nest. Seeing her glowing red in the sunset light was very special.

Number one and two are great comps, very well done! 3 just seems a bit off kilter…

By off kilter do you mean not level or not as nice a composition? I had wondered about cropping the last a bit tighter and it sounds like you may have precured that.

Wonderful light Morris and well caught!

As to number 3, I actually like how his body english leans left and the two branches to either side of him parallel his body, even his ear tuft is leaning to add to the effect, almost looking windblown. I might crop about 15 percent off the bottom and 5 percent off the top, to enhance the visual leaning box effect, but what do I know?

Pretty light and the breeze blowing the ear adds a little more to the lovely capture!
