p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Using laser trigger to shoot at the finish line

I was asked to cover a running event next weekend. Being it was last minute, I'm having a hard time finding another shooter to help out. I was looking at setting up like a Cactus LV5 to trigger my Sony A7iii at the finish while I'll be shooting somewhere between the start and finish line. Has anyone played with such or similar set-up? Can I use my Godox Xpro ii to communicate with the laser or do I have to use the Cactus V6 ii? How stable is it, considering there will be about 800 participants doing the half marathon? TIA

Does your camera have an intervalometer? Set it to start firing 5-10 minutes before you expect the first runner to cross the finish line and have it fire every 1/2 a second or something like that?

That's gonna be a lot of wasted shots, i would think. And besides, i want be able to set it up before the race even starts so i can leave it and shoot from another spot in the route. With the laser trigger, it fires each time someone crosses the laser.

I have a miops box that has a laser trigger mode. You point pretty much any red laser pointer at it and anything that breaks the beam triggers a click. Threshold sensitivity, delay, and frames settings in this mode.

Is there a way to trigger the camera wirelessly with Miops? Since the camera will be on a tripod a few meters away from the finish line( where I would be setting up the laser), I prefer not to deal with people tripping on the cable.

They have a mobile app using bluetooth that can control the miops.
