I don't understand. What was the problem? The focal length?
I made a post over on the MFT forum about it, check that out if you're interested. The short version is that I find autofocus at near 1:1 and greater to be nearly unusable, and focus peaking is frustrating to say the least. I also was hoping to use auto focus stacking for some limited applications, but that isn't working out well either for my use case. I hope some of this will be overcome by using the system and getting familiar with it. Ordinarily I don't use autofocus too much, but if it doesn't work-- the Laowa 85mm macro on my R7 is a *lot* smaller package. And full-time focus peaking works on that setup. The RF100 and R5/7 also will autofocus on the eye and/or head of many insects with animal eye detect.
So far my impression is better than during the first few days. I need to do some side-by-side comparisons, particularly with real-world depth of field. Is this the obvious choice for the serious macro photographer? Only on paper. In practice it doesn't blow away the alternatives, and in some ways it is worse. Of course it is still capable and you can get stunning images. I'll keep pushing on with it and I do expect the experience will improve with practice.
