Thanks for the comments everyone. The background in the first 3 is an otherwise ugly dead evergreen tree of some sort. I was thrilled when the bird perched on that branch and gave me time to reposition myself to grab a few shots.

The fifth photo from the top has an interesting artifact in the upper right corner. Just curious, was it shot with the electronic shutter?
