I met Rick at Conowingo Dam yesterday. This was the best day I can remember for Eagle activity in the past dozen years. There was so much going on it was tough deciding where to look, what Eagles to track, etc. Rick is a expert on eagle behavior and activity at the dam, he is one of the cadre of Conowingo Regulars at the dam. Yesterday Rick mentioned that he has seen the Eagles attack the Cormorants that constantly mine the bay for fish, running back and forth over the water.
I feel I captured an eagle attacking a Cormorant - not sure if he was after the fish or the bird. I missed the dive and splash down but got on target shortly after and got a sequence of about 40 shots. The lighting was tough, I was shooting into the sun. Here are some highlights from entanglement to Cormorant dive to escape to the eagle leaving empty handed.

Great action Bob. It sounds like more than the photographers are jostling for places at the dam.

Yes, I've seen it my self. More common when I've been there are eagles stealing from each other.

Nice set. I haven’t been to the dam in quite some time as the crowds have gotten a little too crazy for me. I’m less than an hour away and maybe it’s time for a ride. Thanks for sharing.

Nice series, Bob, and quite the action. What did the eagle end up flying off with. From the looks of it, it beat the cormorant up pretty bad.

Thank you Chris, RKnecht and Gero.
The eagle left with no fish and no bird. It was all over quickly - I got 40 images at 20 fps - so about two seconds. I go to the dam on weekdays to avoid the crowds - a luxury afforded by retirement.
