Funny story - We started with a female Goffin's Cockatoo, which shortly thereafter started exhibiting breeding behavior, so my wife insisted we get her a boyfriend. Of course, that ruined our girl as a pet, and she just wanted to be with her guy.
Our pair of Goffin's 'toos used to "play at it" just like in your picture but wouldn't conceive... we knew they were getting great nutrition, so asked the vet who told us some birds somehow had to ability to not lay eggs if they didn't feel comfortable with their current nesting environment. We brought the pair to a successful breeder who kept them and built them a boot shaped box that evidently their breed is known to like, and I'll be danged if they didn't start having clutches right away. And we humans think we are the superior smart species... sometimes I wonder!  .
