I had seen a group of YCNH from a trail at the Marine Nature Study Area. My view was obstructed and backlit and I knew another way to approach them where the sun would be in a favorable view so I went back to a place where I had access to the beach at the side of the inlet and walked slowly around a bend where I got the first view. I had my 1.7x TC on my 500 PF and that was a lot of reach allowing me to get the first image. I rotated to vertical to fit more of the bird in the frame. After getting these two images, I took the time to remove the TC for more images.

Nice work Morris, well worth the walk around. That TC works surprisingly well on the first two. The detail in the first pic of the fuzzy strands caught in its beak say it all.

The 1.7x is a wonderful compromise Nikon made to get us close to 2x with great resolution.
