The Catch and the Surprise

Last week at the local pond, slow morning but the Blue Heron was around for a long time and became alert, stirring and leaning forward. When that happens, if his stir gets more intense you know he is about to get something. If he dives and pierces his beck into the water surface, you don’t know what is going to come up with. It could be a minnow, but I have seen them come up with large captures and wonder how can swallow it.

Morris, Thank for comment, yes they are cropped to get the effect, but I was shooting with a long lens and close enough to maintained its sharpness.
