Thanks Dave. yes the lens goes from 2X magnification to 5Xmagnification. I live moving subjects, the most I have been able to do is 3 to 31/2X. The depth of field is incredibly small and any motion blur is enhanced.

It is super close around 1 1/2 to 1. I move very slowly and I get down as much to their level as I can so I am not towering over them. I find the jumping spiders as curious about me as I am them. The other critters if you can find them when they are eating , they do not move as much. As to lighting, I am using a led panel by MagMod. You can see the rectangular reflection in the eyes.
