Out with the Laowa 25mm 2.5-5X Ultra Macro. Found a couple of little things to try and get close to.

The very tiny jumping spider was at the most 1/16th of an inch . He/she was gracious enough to allow me a few moments to do a photo session.

As always , your suggestions and comments are most welcomed.

Thank you for looking and I hope you enjoy.

Birdie

“She asks me to kill the spider.
Instead, I get the most
peaceful weapons I can find.

I take a cup and a napkin.
I catch the spider, put it outside
and allow it to walk away.

If I am ever caught in the wrong place
at the wrong time, just being alive
and not bothering anyone,

I hope I am greeted
with the same kind
of mercy.”

― Rudy Francisco, Helium

Great shots!
If I understand your lens spec, these are all between 2.5X and 5X.
I agree with the other comments about the quote.

Lovely series Birdie.
Suspect your katydid nymph is an adult plant bug (Miridae)

At 25mm, the lens must be super close to the subject. How do you do that without scaring them away? Also, how do you light your subject? Super work!

I just checked mine. Working distance 40mm at x5 and 45mm at x2.5.

I carry mine at all times and use it for e.g. slime moulds.

Thanks Dave. yes the lens goes from 2X magnification to 5Xmagnification. I live moving subjects, the most I have been able to do is 3 to 31/2X. The depth of field is incredibly small and any motion blur is enhanced.

It is super close around 1 1/2” to 1“. I move very slowly and I get down as much to their level as I can so I am not towering over them. I find the jumping spiders as curious about me as I am them. The other critters if you can find them when they are eating , they do not move as much. As to lighting, I am using a led panel by MagMod. You can see the rectangular reflection in the eyes.

Love the quote....the photos, as usual are top shelf and uniquely yours! Even an arachnophobe like myself can appreciate the beauty in these little creatures. And a species with so many eyes...an ophthalmologist's dream come true.
