The snowbird is me, not the birds. A few from the last couple of weeks of our winter sojourn in South Carolina. Friday we head back to Alaska. These are all the usual suspects for many of you folks. Seasonal treats to me.

1) Great Egret

2) Great Blue Heron

3) Snowy Egret

4) Brown Pelican

5) White Pelican

6) Tri-colored Heron

7) Anhinga

8) Double Crested Cormorant

9) White Ibis

10) Greater Yellowlegs

11) Willet

12) Ruddy Turnstone

13) Black-bellied Plover

14) Sanderling

Lots of excellent shots.
My picks would be 7, the Anhinga, and 8, the Cormorant.

Thanks for commenting, Dave. First time capturing the cormorant wearing its crests for breeding season.

So many different subjects, all captured brilliantly! I really like the sanderling pic, scratching his (her? hard to tell with sanderlings) chin. The bubbles in the surf underneath add some cool environmental interest.

Thanks, Louie. Most times it's a matter of not messing up what's in front of us.

Thanks for commenting. Capturing the bird and bubbles both in the focal plane can be a bit tricky.

Thanks. Numbers 5, 11, 12, 13, and 14 were shot with A1/200-600mm. The rest with Z9/800mm 6.3.

If you had to choose one, which system would you choose?

I did choose. Sold the Sony kit about a month ago. I liked the A1 but I've been a Nikon shooter forever and the Z9 and choice of lenses is just a better fit for me. I had the A1 for nine months and shot a good bit with it. Early on the AF was way superior. But Nikon closed that gap and have a wider choice of lenses(when you include f mount). I never did get used to the ergonomics of the A1. IMO it's not a choice about which one performs better. It's a choice of preferred ergonomics and more importantly which overall system works best for individual needs. In my case it was the old "date the camera marry the glass".
