Out of curiosity, were you alerted to the upcoming light show by some kind of forecast based on solar activity, or was it a case of right place, right time? Either way, spectacular images!
Thank you! I use an app called My Aurora Forecast and I pick a location where I want to photograph them. I then get alerted when a sighting is possible. In this case, I was also alerted by a few facebook groups that monitor NOAA Space Weather and geostorms from the sun. Already that morning, there was a buzz about large scale activity and then the app suggested a high KP index. There have been countless times where I simply didn't go or wasn't able to go as the location is 3.5 hours to my north. This time, I went and was treated to a show with an intensity not seen for the past 8-10 years.
