When I read the title, I was hoping this is what I would see, Kent. My dad used to sell and repair these, (as a side income), and I think also Ollivetti's (Sp?). I remember him leaning over these with a goose-neck lamp and using all kinds of solvents and oils while cleaning them - the paper dust really gummed them up. Thanks for the memory!

Yeah, I remember using one (different brand) like this when I was a kid ... definitely not "touch typing" like the electrics and keyboards that have followed.

I entered college(1965) when the change over from handwritten v. typewriter was in full force! Some of my college prof would NOT allow any hand written papers.
The greatest hardship for me was finding one!!!!!
Next, using it!..Yes I was a "hunt-n-peck" guy. I HATED the typewritter!
Now while 6 years in the military, they got them first and being drafted, then enlisting, I rarely, if ever, saw a clerk use anything BUT a typewriter.
Many a clerk, would rather NOT file the "Morning Report" via typewritter! Many lost stories here.
