Purchased my R6 new back in December of 2021 and haven't used it at all until now. Just took it out of the box. Been happily using my "old" 7DII until it finally died. Problem: I can't turn the Mode Dial no matter what hand pressure I try. Any ideas on how to free it so that it will turn?
Sounds like the camera is broken. It should not take much force to turn the dial. I would send it in for warranty repair (if it is actually brand new).
Try to return to dealer for an exchange. You may be need to sweet talk your salesman since you're over the return period. Otherwise you'll have to mail it to Canon Service for a couple weeks or so.
Make sure you did not press the LOCK button to the right of the red Video Record button when you turned it on. Try pressing that button once and see if the dial rotates.
