I was thinking of the Nikon 24-120 F4 VR lens.
Can you recommend anything else. Need Excellent Skin tones as most of my work is portraits and Group shots. Thank

At this moment 24-120G for sure.
Even the Sigma 24-105 Art is slightly better and came out later, Sigma has already started to drop support for their F-mount lenses.
If you can have the native, cheaper and just as good as the 3rd party why risk it?
Next is photography was never about how sharp it is or how contrasty it is, but all about the creativity of the photographers behind the cameras and lenses.

The 24-120mm is the one lens I would recommend avoiding. My copy when compared with the 24-70mm was so soft that I quickly sold it. The Sigma 24-105mm is much sharper but it is pretty much impossble to manually focus the lens and the controls are the reverse of Nikon lenses - I sold mine.

elkhornsun, I think you just had a bad copy that Nikon do allowed out of their factory at times.

sjms, that are the blurriest and most unsharp pictures that I had ever seen, and mine are just as blurry and unsharp. But I loved them the way they are.

Looking good, Steve.

There were less than stellar copies of the F mount 24-120/4G out there as evidenced by owner complaints, but a good copy of that lens, while not perfect, was still more than enough for professional level work to some. I loved the range for sure. Center sharpness was very high on mine, and edges became good enough when stopping down. I used it for one of my personal favorite fall images at Acadia NP which I printed on 22 x 17 Canson fine art paper and it looks delicious in person (sorry about iPhone pic but it is reasonably close):

I own the Nikon 24-120; but would suggest you also take a look at the Tamron 35-150 F2.8-4. I love this lens on my D810!

Nice one!
This is the first time I see a photo being framed this way hanging by a string, although has seen many Chinese classic ink paintings doing it this way.👍 idea

Thanks Hans! I hate framing, so these simple magnetic wood frames with leather hanging string are working well for me to display the bare prints. With my wife’s permission I’ve turned the front of our house into a two-room gallery with 25 prints hanging like that one.

That’s a great link, I’m glad you shared that. Something I’ve always liked about Ming is that he would take a piece of gear that was criticized by pixel peepers and he’d go out and make great artistic images with it.
