But . . .

I still have the 1Ds3!

Just bought a used Sigma 28/1.4 Art and it arrived two days ago. Here are a couple test shots on the 1Ds3 in rainy weather.

Early digital days... Canon Digital Rebel / 300D, my first DSLR. Forgot to mention the year for these pictures, 2006. I had purchased the 300D and EF-S 17-85 in late 2004, a revolution for someone who had never owned an EOS camera or any EF lenses. My film era remained with the F-1 and FD lenses, and starting in 2002 a Canon Digital Elph S300 (2.1 MP). The 300D (6.3 MP) was therefore my first SLR with autofocus (7 AF points), and a lens with IS covering quite decently 28mm to 135mm.

Vienna - Canon EOS 300D - EF-S 17-85mm f:4-5.6 IS USM - ISO100 - 38mm - f:10 - 1/200s

Beijing Forbidden City - Canon EOS 300D - EF-S 17-85mm f:4-5.6 IS USM - ISO200 - 17mm - f:9 - 1/200s

Dorset - Canon EOS 300D - EF 70-200mm f:2.8 L IS - ISO100 - 100mm - f:6.3 - 1/400s

Second that. There was not much easy-to-use software to deal with RAW in 2005, until Apple published Aperture. Even though my first cameras such as the Digital Rebel or the XTi had very little dynamic range especially if ISO was pushed much beyond 800, the improved possibilities of RAW for special lighting situations similar to your pictures became quickly obvious. Never looked back.

Well...it's very obvious that Canons signature colors painted a more eye-pleasing picture back then. Warm and punchy colors have been replaced with a colder an clinical approach in todays cameras and lenses. Probably more accurate from a technical perspective but who wants that?

Thanks Dan. I only owned the D30 for about 9 months (if I recall correctly) and then moved to the EOS 1D.

Unfortunately, many of the other images from the D30 are apparently unfit for posting here. However, just for you, I'm hoping this one passes.

Thanks Andy.
I had been using an EOS 1N prior to giving the D30 a try as my first digital camera. I had fun learning the ropes with it. My knowledge of processing the files has improved immensely since then.
