Yes indeed, there still isn’t a compelling RF lens that I want to buy, or consider to be worth replacing the EF lenses I am using. EF work great in the meantime.

What do you mean EF lenses work better on RF bodies? That's not my experience. For example IS Mode 3 doesn't work right and IS in general keeps running. There are also some reductions of FPS on older lenses. Of course newer (RF) cameras have some functional and performance advantages, though are worse at others.

I mean that all of my EF lenses focus as-fast or faster and definitely more accurately on my R6 than they did on my 5D3 or 7D2. Only my 100-400 II has IS Mode 3 but I haven't noticed any problems. The IS running continuously hasn't caused me any problems. I have a couple of lenses that can't do 12 fps, but even their reduced frame rate on the R6 is better than I got with the 5D3. Neither of those lenses were the kind I'd use for fast action anyway.

I’m not going to quote anyone but I get a kick out of referring to Katelyn James as a rookie that doesn’t know how to use a flash. Will all the photographers on this site that are also pulling in a healthy 7 figure annual income from photography please stand up. 😂

She makes a lot of money off of selling courses but I mean on her 50 1.2 vs 50 1.8 video the guy shooting the video explained the difference between 7 vs 10 blade aperture. Not that she claims to be real tech-y. I probably would not stop down 85 1.2 to 2 , leaving me underexposed at 25600, either. YMMV

No microfocus adjustment needed, and better focus hit rate.

Yeah she's not techy. I watch her videos when I'm more interested in how a piece of gear performs in actual use. I can get specs off Canon's website. I do understand stopping down a little to get more DOF when you might want more than one person's eyes in focus. But even f/2 is so shallow at 85 that it might not matter much anyway. May as well own the ultra shallow DOF and shoot wide open. In that video, I believe there was a window at one end of the room and in my experience, the falloff can be pretty steep within a certain distance, leaving one side of a person's face overexposed and the other in deep shadow. So maybe she was trying to protect against that. Dunno.

I'd rather catch an old Depeche Mode video on YouTube surprisingly popular

So far my experience from shooting with 5Ds to R6MKII is not just seamless but also advantageous. The eye-AF technology is fantastic as the focusing is faster and more accurate with the R6MKII than the 5Ds. And this is with my existing EF lenses. For me that is more beneficial than IBIS as some of my EF lenses have IS. The electronic shutter is great to have combined with the high bursts.

I have yet to try out all my EF lenses out in the field. However, since all the ones I tried out are working great I see no reason to buy an RF lens. Maybe if Canon would release the RF version of the 200/2.8 L I will definitely consider it.

R6MKII, 85/1.2LII, 1/8000 sec., F/1.2, ISO 100, exposure bias 0.67

85/1.2LII, 1/160 sec, f/5.6, ISO 1600

35/1.4 L, 1/500 sec., f/1.6, ISO 320

35/1.4 L, 1/320 sec., f/1.4, ISO 100

Hmmm...I guess I just assumed that using EF lenses on non-native bodies would be inferior. To be specific, my main carry is the 5D Mark IV w/ EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM Lens. If I were to swap the body out, say, for a R6 Mark II, and keep using the same lens, would you say it's worth it? I was strongly contemplating just walking away from the system entirely and going with a full-frame fixed-lens "compact" like the Leica Q/Q2 or Sony RX1R II instead of investing in a new Canon body. Mainly because of the size and weight of my current DSLR and lens combo makes it unappealing to carry around and that fact that I end up just shooting at 35mm or 50mm anyway. Yes, I can just invest in an L prime EF lens, but then I feel like I'm not really resolving my weight/size concerns.

I think going from a solid body such as the 5D4 to a R5 or R6II depends on what the use will be. Travelling, street, candid a lighter set-up might be more suitable. For wildlife and action the advanced AF will be a big improvement and low light stuff will also be better. Horses for courses.
I went from a loved 6D to an R6. I have just been doing some low light action stuff using both cameras. The focussing is much better, and the hi ISO (10,000 and up) files are much cleaner on the R6. I'm starting to like this camera.
If on the other hand it is just good light and general photography the 5D4 is still a great camera, as is my 6D.
