Is there a difference in angle of view, with an FX lens vs. on a DX camera?

Your FX lens focal length and effective aperture are increased 50% when mounting to a DX body. Is that your question?

IE a 50/1.2 becomes effectively a 75/1.8.

Yes. On Nikon the conversion factor is 1.5. So on aps an 18mm gives the same field as 27mm on ff.

Correct. But focal length remains 18 mm. Focal length of a given lens never increases or reduces. The same holds for aperture. To compare the depth of field we get using a given lens (e.g., 50/1.4) on sensors with different size (APS-C or FF) we should decide if we take a picture at the same distance from the subject OR with same framing.

DX sensors use the center of the lens image circle. The center of the image is the sharpest part.

What I meant was, if you put a 50mm FX lens on a DX camera, will it have a different field of view than a DX 50mm lens mounted on the same DX camera?

Not different. Same field of view.

Incorrect. The length doesn't change. 18mm is still 18mm. BUT the FOV DOES change on a crop body or APS-C sensor to 27mm FOV equivalent to a 35mm (FX) sensor. You can not make an 18mm lens show 18mm FOV on an APS-C sensor

You are misunderstanding what the OP is asking. He clarified here, read it carefully:

“What I meant was, if you put a 50mm FX lens on a DX camera, will it have a different field of view than a DX 50mm lens mounted on the same DX camera?”
