I bought the 28-75 g2 as a travel zoom, it dramatically exceeded my expectations as far as image quality, close focus ability, and auto focus performance.

I did find the 28mm to be limiting on the wide end.

I liked it so much that I bought the Tamron 20-40 2.8. The 20-40 pairs very well with the a7r4 due to the ability to crop down when necessary.

Now I find that the 20mm isn't quite wide enough either..

Quick summary:

Bright natural light shoot over the weekend. Got to use the Tamron 28-75 G2. Handy zoom range. Fast and accurate AF. IQ is surprisingly very good but images are generally not quite as crisp overall and sharp across the frame as comparable ones shot with 35 1.4 GM and 50 1.2 GM. Though differences may not be noticeable to anyone else, especially after processing. Distortion at 28mm. Fixable with lens profile in Adobe products.

Client and everyone involved love the photos. Great tool. Great price.
