Just got this lens from B&H this morning. Tested it out and everything looks great... my copy seems pretty sharp and centered.
I am really a fast prime user, but most of the time I shoot at tight locations that I have no idea what they look like. This lens will do the trick when I need the flexibility of a zoom.
I actually bought a Sony 24-70 GM (version 1) about 2.5 years ago, but returned it right after the first shoot with it because my copy's IQ was pretty meh and it was quite pricey too, exactly twice as much as this $800 Tamron.
I can't really make the case to splurge on a $2100+ GM II. Tamron it is. Very happy with the purchase. Will get to try it out in real life shoots very soon.

Quick summary:
Bright natural light shoot over the weekend. Got to use the Tamron 28-75 G2. Handy zoom range. Fast and accurate AF. IQ is surprisingly very good but images are generally not quite as crisp overall and sharp across the frame as comparable ones shot with 35 1.4 GM and 50 1.2 GM. Though differences may not be noticeable to anyone else, especially after processing. Distortion at 28mm. Fixable with lens profile in Adobe products.
Client and everyone involved love the photos. Great tool. Great price.
