My problem with that is weight. A bigger body is ok, but if it weighs 1000g no thanks. Not when my A7RIV weighs 665g. But that’s me.

imo, 15 fps seems about right for BIF and I feel that 9 fps (with my D850) is often too slow.

In regard to processing 60+ mpx files, they might introduce the Expeed 8. Would that not do it? And, have you heard anything on that either way?

I want to read CanadaMark's thoughts on all of this too.

My understanding is that when compared to a D850 it is similar in height and width, but thinner and lighter. It will still likely be the largest, and heaviest non gripped mirrirless camera around.

Also, like the Z9 some features that will be touted won't be ready, but will be made availble in future firmware updates.

I wish we could get a quality camera that just shoots photos and no video at a reduced cost. I’ve never used any of the video features of these cameras.

I understand

From what I've seen over the years, small-size and light-weight have not been a priority for Nikon when designing/building a body. Afterthought: ...... at least pro-level stuff.

It sounds like the dimensions and build of a the Leica SL series cameras. Those bodies are large and built like bricks. This would not be a horrible thing... though I have absolutely no interest in 61MP

Not sure why it’s not good news but I was told the same thing a few weeks ago. That a development announcement at best would happen this month, followed by pre-ordering of the new body (they didn’t say which model) and the 200-600mm for delivery sometime in late May or early June.

Z8 will stacked 60mp sensor can do very well. I highly doubt the incorporation of such a sensor though. We can hope and see.

It's not really an update, the dates have been public for a long time now - both the March 28 closure and the NDA's sent out for another event in late April / May. Peter is just repeating that. No leaks at this point probably just means it's the latter.

Also sometimes Nikon does a development announcement mere weeks before official announcement, like with the 85/1.2. Kind of pointless if you ask me, but if they do just make a development announcement, it doesn't necessarily mean a long wait.

It's not actually pointless, if you ask me. I would've avoided spending money on 100-400s, if I new 400f4.5 was coming 6-7 months after.
I would like to know what's coming, so I can make my arrangements, but it doesn't always suits company business, I can understand that.

That is why I posted that the wind was unclear about whether they would first do the development announcment not a release announcement. I have been hearing that the camera won't be ready until Fall. All of this is still fuzzy.

Whether that will be the sensor used or not is not clear. What is known is that there have been test mules out there with just such a sensor in them. So the sensor does exist, at least at some level of development.

This new Z9 adventure is purely for myself to figure out if I'd be happy chasing the lenses I desire over the body I currently favour.
Just for the Z telephoto lens selection alone I could totally see one shooting Nikon regardless of how the A1 and Z9 compare.
