I hope it's okay that I share this here. Every time I stray from The N&W Forum into one of the other forums I end up getting in trouble so here it is

I've never even entered a photo contest and this is the first time showing my work aside from friends and relatives. I was always very reluctant because I always shoot just for myself and I never felt there would be any interest in what I had to offer. To my surprise the response was very, very good. There were a total of 18 prints ranging in size from 12x18 to 20x28. The work has been hanging since 1/4 and will stay till 2/18. I've stopped up there a few times for breakfast and it's been very satisfying to sit back anonymously sipping a coffee and watch folks engage and connect with what they were viewing. The Arts Cafe threw a very nice wine and cheese reception back in January and I was also the first guest speaker at their "Artists Night" which they will continue doing with various other artists twice a month. I sold a few prints which I wasn't expecting and all in all it's been a very rewarding experience.
Thank you to all the forum members here who've given me support over the years and inspired me to venture a bit out of my comfort zone.

Congratulations Gary. Like you I do it because I enjoy it. I love being in the woods and seeing something I think is cool. I can't wait to get home and show my wife and son what I saw. Outside of them I have couple of photo buddies I would show. A little over a year ago I started posting on FM, first time anywhere.
I really do enjoy looking at your work, and all the members here. Best of luck on the next chapter of your photography adventure.

Very nice Gary. Those look like some great images on the walls. It would be very interesting to be a fly on the wall while they comment on some of your great shots.

These were printed at Meridian Pro or Mpix. I always have them mounted on mat board with a fine linen texture added. I tried a Giclee print from Mpix. It was double the price over a standard print and I was really disappointed. It was printed to replace one that was already printed by them so I was able to compare and I felt the standard print looked better. The Giclee looked very flat to me. Possibly Mpix does not have that perfected yet. My idea with the no glass, no mat, wide, ornate frame look was to mimic a painting. I can't tell you how many people had just that response. The most common response was; "they're so Chrystal clear" . "they pop out of the frame". And "they look like a painting".
