This is one of the most fun threads on FM, thanks everyone for inspiring me! I put together a set of my favorite scanned film images in the Landscape section if interested:

1986 Kodachrome , I call Checkin It Out, The boys and I were on a fishing trip at the creek, that day. Cathy was at work, Mom had John, and I took Matt and Mike fishing. As I recall we did not catch any, but had a great time. Z7ii digital scan with z mc 105 f/2.8 + modified es-2 slide holder. Topaz Photo AI processed out most of the CA noise and sharpened up Mikey a bit. Nice, brings back great memories.

This old gator (the teeth are in bad shape) made the fatal mistake of crossing in the night. I found it in the morning.

This is on Florida U.S. 19 (looking northward) toward Crystal River. Broward/Palm Beach line is just up the highway. Sugar cane fields are just out of sight and across the highway. The edge of the Everglades is just out of the picture to the right.

Circa 1984, Kodachrome 64

A younger gator and it's angry LOL. I'm on my belly on the airboat deck, careful not to get too close. Look at those nice young teeth :).

That's me, as a wildlife biologist in the Everglades. Most of the time I worked alone in the Everglades and so there are few self-images. I had a custom-built airboat and when I was not in that I was in a helicopter doing controlled burning.

I am so thankful that I decided to pull out the tripod that morning and take a picture of myself.

Impressive. How long did you have that job. Not too many people have that on their resume. Mike

About 6 years later I accepted a federal wildlife biologist job working on endangered species in Georgia. Today I enjoy photography and research of Common Loons and Monarch butterflies in my home state, Maine. It's fun.

I have a question: I find that Topaz software removes noise from these scans.

Do you guys see the same?

Please, let's keep posting more of your interesting images from your past.

I'll add another.

These are the tracks and tail drag from a large gator that left its "hole" during a severe Everglades drought.

I think it was in 1987.

I recently added topaz photo AI to my mix. It does wonders with the old slides. removes noise and sharpens up people in the shot too. I tone the sharpening down as I feel it makes the people in the picture look to much like a collage scene. It has brought new life into my old slides. Mike
