In Wyoming for a few weeks climbing and skiing. There are thousands of Elk in the refuge, but not close to any access for close photo's right now. (The herd is getting fed, which keeps them near the hay deposits) I happened upon these 3 elk at my usual duck birding spot late yesterday. They were eating the cattails. It was a quick hit handheld till my hands froze (-10F) and I was in the shade losing the light.

one thing about wildlife photography is the unexpected opportunities that pop up. good job. young animals have a cuteness that adults lack.

Speaking of unexpected, I was climbing at about 8000ft elevation in the tetons today and flushed 3 grouse buried in the snow. scares me every time. Had 16-35mm with me so got a 35mm bird shot ! Need to download later. JP
