Most likely an isolated event. There are a few reports of short-term lock ups with this lens, but nothing "endemic." So far, I seem to be the "lucky" one with a brick. We'll see if Fuji can fix it or if they just ship me a new one (if they have any to ship!). I was really counting on the GF 20-35 for this weekend, but I'll "make do" with my Canon 16-35mm f2.8 mkIII on a Fringer adapter. It does an admirable job for a non-native lens, with no noticeable vignetting between 20-35mm. Corners are reasonably sharp.

My 20-35 is on its way back. They fixed in 3 days. The main board was replaced and all is now functional according to the tech I spoke to. I wonder if a batch of these lenses went out with some faulty boards - some worse than others. Who knows. All I care about is it's fixed and Fuji took care of it quickly.

Well, encountered the problem once again. Sending my 20-35 in for repair, thankfully Fujifilm makes the process super easy. Just happy that I'm getting it resolved before my next job.

Such a great lens, otherwise. Hoping they've fixed this problem for the current batches going out.

Hmm, sent mine in for service but they weren't able to recreate the issue with my 20-35. Out of curiosity, what memory card do you use in your GFX? I'm wondering if my Sony Tough V90 has started to have problems writing files...

SanDisk and Sony cards, but mostly the SanDisk ExtremePro 300 mb/sec. Last time I used the Sony Tough 300 my/sec it didn’t write RAW files, only JPEG. I need to figure out what happened, but I’ll be sticking with SanDisk going forward.

Sony Tough G 128 cards. Never have had a single lock up until I rented the 20-35.
So far, my new "purchased" 20-35 is fine w/ zero lock ups.

Though it sounds funny, I had the same issue with my GFX100 and one of my lenses, not the 20-35. Turned out to be a bad SD card! Try another card just in case.

I know this an old thread but I have been having a similar issue intermittently for maybe a year now. I have the GFX 100S and have had instances in which the camera locks up and is unresponsive where I have to take the battery out to turn it off. And also when I put the battery back in there is no power even though the battery is fully charged, even trying different batteries.

I have sent it in to Fuji for repair and every time they cannot repeat the problem. I never thought that it may be the lens. I have the 45-100 and 100-200. Recently, it happened again and I was preparing to send it to Fuji so I took the lens off. Something told me to put the battery in with the lens not connected. Well what do you know, the camera came on instantly and functioned as normal.

Now, I bought the 45-100 brand new from B&H but it’s been a couple years and I think past warranty. Any thoughts on what I can do about this?

The only time I’ve had a hiccup is when updating firmware on several lenses recently. I was turning the camera off and then back on too fast and I don’t believe it was done properly shutting down before I tried to restart it. I didn’t read anyone mentioning if their issue was related to turning the camera off and on quickly but wanted to share.
