Totally agree. In my opinion they should keep all the stuff off the M. I am jsut south of 70 and have never thought when shooting with my M gee I wish I had IBIS.
Intellectually I agree with you Allen. I would like to keep my Leica M shooting experience as pure as possible. But if you ever get diagnosed with "essential tremors" in your hands as I have you will notice the benefits of IBIS. With meds I can handle the 24 mpx of the M10 fine. Much more difficult with 60mpx M11, I definitely had to use a couple stops higher SS to ensure no camera movement. On my Sony A1 I really notice the difference, and can event tell a big difference when the lens also has stabilization. Longer lenses stabilization is now a must for me. 50mm on down and I am good with just IBIS, 28mm down and IBIS not needed either.
The good news is that there now appears to be a treatment to perminately cure essential tremors using targeted ultra sound rather that cutting out part of your brain. Once it is on the Medicare approved list I plan on getting it. Then no more meds either.
Still IBIS would be a big plus for me.
As I age, and the old injuries and stuff exert their negative affects on me there are a number of things I cannot do anymore, and many more that I don't do as well. Still, I am not willing to lay down and stop doing stuff and being productive. Anything that assists me in the pursuit of an active, interesting, and meaningful daily life I welcome. I am not going to stand on some prefered principle when it comes to such things.
