B&H Photo and Adorama are showing the Leica M10-R as discontinued.

It's my favorite M and I intend on keeping mine for a long time.

It'll be a classic M Fred. A limited time in production, great sensor and the last fully traditional design. The follow on M11...well not so much.

I agree. Aside from Monochrome bodies, I've tried pretty much all digital M bodies from M8 to M11 and the M10-R is my personal favorite.

An era has ended. Only recently, the M10 Monochrom was discontinued, and now the M10-R, too. Long live my M Type 246 and original M10 cameras!

Deep. Sigh.

Is any digital M currently available other than the M11? I.e. an 'entry level' M? Or has Leica given up on this segment and have left it to the the secondhand market?

Edit: I see the silver chrome version is still available. Wonder if it's just because there's still stock, or if the black chrome has been discontinued because it's black chrome (environmental reasons)?

Leica Store Austria shows Black Chrome as 3-5 day delivery...

Hi Ron,
I think stores will still have some stock but Leica is no longer producing M10-R cameras.

Let's wait for the M12 then....probably "the" update many are waiting for after the M10....
M11 reminds me a bit on the M5 in the past - not by the optics but by the rest regarding less excitement about the M11. Customers are often either staying with a camera from the M10 series (like in the past with the M4) or waiting for a future release which might provide in-body stabilization - or/and maybe a M with EVF instead of optical rangefinder.

Tamarkin Camera has some M10-R in stock. They are Leica CLA cameras with 1 year factory warrantee for $5,700. Was thinking of trading in my M10-P for one, but have decided to hold out in hope of a M11-P/M12 with IBIS . It must be coming...

The M11 reminds me of the M240 when Leica added lots of complexity and features they thought Leica M shooters wanted, including video. Well, the M10 fixed all that.
IBIS for the M? Perhaps useful for longer focal lengths but not really needed for the bread and butter 28/35/50 IMO.

Reserve judgment on that until your 70th birthday then revisit the question.

Maybe I'm just shaky, but ISIB is a godsend for me. Even at 24mp on the SL2-S, I love having it. I love that I rarely need a tripod to get tripod-equivalent sharpness. It lets me shoot at dusk in very low light and still keep my aperture at f/5.6 and ISO at or near 100. As good as current cameras are, I love staying at ISO 100 compared to even ISO 640.

Totally agree. In my opinion they should keep all the stuff off the M. I am jsut south of 70 and have never thought when shooting with my M gee I wish I had IBIS.

Ya, I don't think I ever used the video on my M240. It was, well, embarrassing that my phone was much better for that. Glad they got rid of it on the later Ms.

FYI you will know if the black chrome finish is 'done' and no longer produced for environmental or whatever other reasons if the M-A is no longer offered with it. Currently it comes in silver or black chrome.

Intellectually I agree with you Allen. I would like to keep my Leica M shooting experience as pure as possible. But if you ever get diagnosed with "essential tremors" in your hands as I have you will notice the benefits of IBIS. With meds I can handle the 24 mpx of the M10 fine. Much more difficult with 60mpx M11, I definitely had to use a couple stops higher SS to ensure no camera movement. On my Sony A1 I really notice the difference, and can event tell a big difference when the lens also has stabilization. Longer lenses stabilization is now a must for me. 50mm on down and I am good with just IBIS, 28mm down and IBIS not needed either.

The good news is that there now appears to be a treatment to perminately cure essential tremors using targeted ultra sound rather that cutting out part of your brain. Once it is on the Medicare approved list I plan on getting it. Then no more meds either.

Still IBIS would be a big plus for me.

As I age, and the old injuries and stuff exert their negative affects on me there are a number of things I cannot do anymore, and many more that I don't do as well. Still, I am not willing to lay down and stop doing stuff and being productive. Anything that assists me in the pursuit of an active, interesting, and meaningful daily life I welcome. I am not going to stand on some prefered principle when it comes to such things.

Way to much stuff on the M 11 for my liking. One reason I bought Leica digital M is as much for the stuff it doesn't have as the stuff it has. They can make an M IBIS or whatever they want to call it but if they don't offer one without IBIS I have bought my last new digital M. Probably have anyway becasue with the M 10 and the M 10 M I can see no reason to upgrade. Well maybe when I fully retire I will dump my M 10s and if I am still inclined to have a color body pick up an M 10 R.

The M10R black paint was one of the most beautiful cameras ever. I resisted.

I don't think it was the BP that was toxic, was it. I thought it was the old version of the chrome finish they changed. I like it better on the M11 anyway. It's a tiny bit more grippy.

I still have my M-P black paint. If they make one for the M11 I'm first in line.

Maybe I'm less sensitive to this stuff than others. I use my M11 and M10M interchangeably and don't even think about it, except that I need to pack a charger for the M10M. I haven't used my M10R once since I got the M11 and I don't miss it at all. I need to sell it.

M11 is my last M unless IBIS is added. That's about all they could do to make me upgrade. Being able to use my 50mm APO at night with lower ISO's would be lovely. I'm not interested if the camera gets bigger, so it's unlikely to happen. I know some don't care but it was a revalation in my X2D. I considered the X1DII like an M with AF. If we could get it without other compromises I see no downsides.

Same can be said for the rangefinder, though vision issues that affect its use can happen long before 70.

But, if you can turn IBIS on or off it won't have a negative impact on how you shoot. In reality IBIS is one of those things you don't notice when shooting, except you can shoot at a lower SS and therefore lower ISO. It takes no management or thought when shooting.
