Nothing happens when I press in the joystick. Not sure if there is a setting to enable this.
Yes. Check the options under Wrench > BUTTON/DIAL SETTING > FOCUS LEVER SETTING (which is Fuji's name for the joystick)
There are more options than in prior Fuji bodies, and you can assign different functions to PUSH and TILT actions independently. I have PUSH set to EDIT FOCUS AREA and TILT set to DIRECT AF POINT SELECTION, which gives me the most similar (but not exactly same) behavior as my X-T3. With these settings you can move the AF point around without pressing it, and after pressing you can control the size with the rear command dial.
I'd *like* to be able to re-center the AF point simply by pressing the joystick like in the X-T3, but in the X-T5 if you set PUSH to CENTER you then can't change the AF box size with the rear control dial after pressing the joystick any more. So now I have to remember push the joystick then press DISP/BACK to re-center, which is awkward. I guess they're trying to avoid accidentally re-centering the AF when you just want to resize the box wherever you have it positioned.
Restoring the prior joystick behavior is high on many people's firmware wish list, including mine.
