In 2022 I finally made the big upgrade from the a7r2 to the A1. With the R2, the AF performance had caused me buy only MF voigtlanders (14/4.5, 21/1.4, 40/1.2, 110). The 200-600 proved to be an exercise in frustration, leading to the A1 upgrade.

A friends wedding caused me to get the sigma 24-70 and 85/1.4, as it's a bit ridiculous having the A1 and no AF lenses other than the 200-600, and Sigmas because I'd blown my budget on the body. I'm finding the 110 a bit frustrating, might try the sigma 105 to see if fast AF helps with moving bugs. No plans to move on otherwise, hoping the rumored a1 firmware might bring some focus stacking enhancements for macro.

There's a view amongst some that the magic of the Q, if it exists, lies in the original and just as with the SL is lost in the upgrade.

Rethinking my A7IV purchase as it's not the travel cam I really wanted and given I have the A7RV maybe go back to the A7C as that travels better. Stick the Tammy 20-40 on it with the Laowa 14 in the bag and im off and can be sort of a backup. I have a desire for a Leica Q2 to be honest just don't like the money output. Not at this point in my life. Sony needs to make a better travel cam .

Sony Zeiss 35 1.4. Got it used and really sharp and happy, but big. Would prefer the GM but I saved a lot of money.
Sigma 45 2.8. My fav walk around.
Voight 50 1.2 My go to one lens for the day option.
Loxia 85
Sony 200-600. Love it but in the winter don't use it much. I can handle heavy and big but add cold in the mix and it is a hassle to take.

thinking about my desire for smaller lighter zoom kit for travel so considering selling my a74 and buying the a7r5 and pairing with the sony aps-c 2.8 g zoom and new fast primes.

all i need from the a7r5 is the extra resolution but the better evf and lcd will be appreciated. no interest in going backward to the a7r4

The x100v was my prior everyday carry camera and as much as I loved it, something about the Q2 files are just “special”. I’m not sure how to explain it but they are lovely.

I have the GM because I like to vlog between 16-20mm and my favorite focal length for portraits is 35. ZA is for small events where i'm only shooting photos. Got the 20mm recently to see if it could replace my GM since it's so much easier to vlog with size and weight wise. Using APSC mode on it to shoot photos at 30mm. Still undecided whether to keep it and sell the GM. Thinking Tamron 20-40mm might be a better fit though.

Also just got the GR iii as an everyday carry but i'm also highly considering a Fuji x70 if i can get my hands on one, or maybe an x100f.

Spare a thought for the Sigma 18-50 APS-C zoom. I bought it for the same purpose (on an A7R4) and the results are excellent

So, here's my kit for photo and video. I am trying to decide how and where to upgrade, as currently, I have no issues
aside from 30 minute time limit on the older camera bodies for video. Just not sure how much I want to spend. I love the A9 speed, I love the A7r3 sensor and faster mechanical shutter. Sometimes I shoot photo and video at the same event.

My kit hasn't really changed since late in 2022.

My main cameras are my Kolari Vision UT sensor modified A7rII used for particularly WA M-mount lenses and my A1 for my E mount lenses made by Voigtlander and Sony. Other camera bodies are my A7rIII and a stock A7r and a Kolari Vision V3 modified A7r. I also use my Sony bodies (mainly my A7rIII with a smaller grip than my A1 which I also use) as digital backs for my Cambo Actus Mini with full tilt capabilities with a series of lenses.

In mid/late October 2022, I added the Laowa 20mm f/4 Zero-D Shift Lens in Canon EF mount to be shared between my Cambo Actus Mini in Sony E mount and my Sony bodies with a Canon EF to Sony adapter. I have just added a Novoflex Canon EF to Sony adapter which will hopefully as my other Novoflex adapters hit or almost hit the infinity stop for the Laowa lens and replace the Urth Canon EF to Sony adapter that is quite short for infinity focus.

AF kit looks complete, even though the Batis 40 is supposed to be a long term rental, but hoping it finds a place to stay. Zoom kit has a new addition, but the 16-35 PZ and 20-70 are interesting.

To be acquired - just waiting for the 35GM to go on sale... Can't get my head around spending an extra $100 if I don't have to. I love the primes I have ATM, but am really looking forward to adding the 35GM to my kit.

Occasionally I think about replacing the FE85 with a Batis or 85 DG DN but I really enjoy shooting with the FE85 and have no complaints or FOMO when using it.

I've tried MF, and TBH, I am not good at it and I don't find it enjoyable. I own 50mm and 135mm MD Rokkors for that Sony / Minolta nostalgia, but I never actually shoot with them.
