Last year's Your Kit thread was fun, so let's start another for 2023.

I like to shoot a bit of everything including family, portraits, travel, landscape and some local wildlife.

Sony A1
Sony 20mm f/1.8 G
Sony 35mm f/1.4 GM
Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II
Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II
Sony 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS
Sony 1.4X TC

I've built mine around portrait, event work, and sports.

Sony A1
35 GM
50 GM
135 GM
24-70 GM II
70-200 GM II
200-600 G
AD600x2, AD300x2, V860iii, V1

This is actually all pretty compact, it fits in a TT international and a light backpack, with the AD600s coming along when I need them.

in 2022 I sold/bought a few lenses. Here is what I have right now:

Sony A1 x 2
Sony A7III (infrared)
Sony RX100 VI

Voigtlander 12
Voigtlander 15
Voigtlander 21 f1.4
Voigtlander 35 f1.2
Sony PF 16-35
Tamron 17-28 f2.8 (for the IR camera)
Sony 24-70 GM II
Sony 28-60
Sigma 85 f1.4 ( may sell this one, sitting in the drawer)
Sony 90 macro
Meyer-Optik Gorlitz Trioplan 100mm f/2.8 II
Sony 70-200 GM II
Sony 200-600
Sony 600 GM

If I may add, the lenses that I really want but don't exist (yet) in Sony land are a good 14-30 f4 that takes screw-in filter, and a new 600 f4 with a built-in 1.4 TC, like the new Nikon 600 f4, I hope Sony won't be asking $16000 for such a lens.

I feel like I have a ridiculous amount of glass, but I do shoot a bit of everything in varying circumstances, so I really do use them all.

* Denotes favorite lenses

A1 (x2)
PZ 16-35mm f4
GM 12-24mm f2.8 *
GM 24mm f1.4
GM 35mm f1.4
Sigma 35mm f1.2 *
GM 50mm f1.2 *
Sigma 85mm f1.4 DG DN
Sigma 105mm f1.4 *
Tamron 135mm f1.8
Tamron 28-200mm f2.8-5.6
Tamron 35-150mm f2-f2.8 *
GM 24-70mm f2.8 II
GM 70-200mm f2.8 II *
GM 100-400mm *
Sony 200-600mm
AD600 (x2), AD300 (x2), V860III (x3)

About the only lens change/addition I am looking for is the expected GM 85mm f1.2. Fortunately, my G.A.S. seems to be subsiding as I have had little desire to acquire most of the numerous recently released lenses. For years, I was always looking to upgrade the IQ of my lenses, which was cause for constant upgrades. These newer lenses are so darned good, I have (fortunately) lost most of that desire.

2023 is a checkpoint date for me since 2022 was the year I transitioned to Sony. Good question for me then!

My kit:
Batis 18, 25, 40, 85 and Sony Zeiss 55 - all have a good trade-off between aperture and weight, a bit bulky but light, etc. All of them make a nice one-lens kit for an outing. Or 2 lenses if needed. So I feel pretty well set for now.

Sigma 18-50 2.8 zoom -- a marvel and so small -- for those occasions when only a zoom will do

I also have the Sony 35GM and Sigma 45/2.8. Both wonderful lenses, somewhat superfluous now I have made other choices but I can't quite part with them yet!

You can see I do like the Zeiss designs and the look they achieve.

Still evolving
A7IV
A7RV
Laowa 14mm
Tammy 20-40
Sony 70-200mm

Sent my Tammy 28-70 back and I may turn to all Sony in that range. I will keep the 14 and 70-200 regardless but still not sure what I want. I even have thoughts of Leica Q2 and just keep a work kit. Even have thoughts of selling all my Wescott Lighting kit. My issue is I cant decide to retire yet.

Way too many lenses, one body though .

Edit: it might make sense to single a couple out, for one reason or another:

* Laowa Argus 35/0.95 - my (not) only lens purchase of 2022 (though I did buy 2 other lenses that year, but returned them in the end). TBH, this one is not what I expected. Damn, forgot I've also bought Astrhori 50/1.4 tilt to play around, but it was a lot cheaper compared to regular lenses
* Tamron 35-150/2-2.8 - the only zoom that eats away at my prime usage (and I enjoy it )
* 35GM - if I can take only one lens, this will be it
* 50GM - the best Sony to date

Honorary mentions:
* Sigma 14-24/2.8 DN - 2023 will be another year when I will try to force myself to leart the ultra-wide. It's one of those lenses whose photos I can easily pick out from the bunch most of the time (Zeiss-y colors and contrast + amazing resolution).
* Sony 100-400GM - I should sell this one and replace it by Tamron 50-400, as it's smaller and lighter (+ has that useful 50-100 range added), but there's something I like about the photos from the GM...

Sony 100-400 GM
Sony 70-200 GM II
Song 24-105
Sony 12-24

I have lots and lots of lenses. But lately I've been using...

Sony a7R V

AF
Sigma 14-24mm f/2.8 DG DN
Sigma 28mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art
Zeiss Batis 40mm f/2 CF
Sigma 65mm f/2 DG DN C
Zeiss Batis 135mm f/2.8 APO

Sony 1.4x TC

Voigtlander APO-Lanthar 35mm f/2

My other lenses are with me less, but many of them see some form of action throughout the year.

Used while hiking and travel

A74
Voitglander 15
Sony 20G
Sony 35GM
Sony 85/1.8
Sony 16-35 PZ
Sony 24-105
Sony E70-350

thought I would pair the 16-35 PZ w/ the 24-105 but I just returned from a 10 day trip and took the 20G instead. Had no need for wider so I will probably sell the 16-35PZ. have not used it since purchase.

Purchases before May (before an intl trip)
hoping for a updated A7C
possibly get the 20-70 for travel instead of using the 24-105

Tamron 50-400mm f/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD
Sony 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS

I use the Laowa 9, 25, 85, Sony 16-35 and 200-600 and Tamron 50-400 the most.

I primarily use the 9mm in forests, but occasionally for some architecture as well.

The 25 and 85 open up for a whole new world compared to the standard macro lenses. I use them handheld, as the nature doesn't wait for you. I'm bad at focus stacking, though.

The 16-35 and 50-400 are a phenomenal pair for landscape and cityscape. I switch between these two zooms and the 9, 21, 50, 135 kit, depending on the need of reach and accessibility of the given location. For nightscape, the latter is chosen. I often use the 50-400 for abstract architecture as well.

The 200-600 is a workhorse for wildlife, but I sometimes desire a 300 f/4 and 600 f/5.6 kit instead, which might replace the 50-400 for me as well (mostly at 300mm on the Tamron and 600mm on the Sony).

I actually use the GMs the least. Occasionally use them for people, indoor architecture, caves (on vacation) and rarely astro (horrible where I live). I considered photographing craftsmanship (occasionally do) and events professionally, but I don't see myself doing it, at least not in the long run, and I plan to start studying soon to become a lab technician. I much prefer freelancing architecture, landscape and wildlife, but doubt that will work.

Why not replace this one with primes, too?

For me:

Sony A7C
200-600
Tamron 20/f2.8

I was thinking of getting either a 1.4x teleconverter, or perhaps an A6400 for even more reach.

Simplest kit in decades…

Primes:

20/1.8 G
35GM + 40/2.5G
90/2.8 Sigma DG DN

Zooms:

24-70 GM II
70-180/2.8 Tamron

Selling a TTArtisan 50/1.4 most likely (don’t see myself having time to do MF for a while)

———

Sold a bunch of stuff (50 GM, sigma 65, etc)
Will get an R5 or A2 eventually
Might get a 50GM again if the rumored 50/1.4 doesn’t materialize. Would prefer something around 500gm.

Mostly set with my Sony gear over the last year. I am considering to add a wide angle zoom and thanks to @GMPhotography and his tireless Big Bronco test, it will be the Tamron 20-40 f2.8. It would replace the Sony 20mm G and Sigma 24mm in each kit. Also might sell the Sigma 45mm f2.8 and add the Sigma 90mm f2.8 instead, as that would give me a small 135mm lens in APSC crop when needed. But waiting on that to see if Sigma adds a 105mm I series lens.

Bodies:
A7RIV
A7III

Main Lens Kit:
Sony 20mm f1.8G
Sony 35mm f1.4 GM
Batis 85mm f1.8 w/OIS
Batis 135mm f2.8 w/OIS

Lightweight/travel Lens Kit:
24mm f2 Sigma I
35mm f2 Sigma I
45mm f2.8 Sigma I
65mm f/2 Sigma I

For sports, airshows, wildlife, or nature I have the Sony 100-400 GM plus 1.4x TC.
For ultra wide angle I have the C/V 15mm f4.5 Helliar III

Godox V350-S, AD200 x2 and AD300 lights

I bought and sold more than ever before last year, including selling my Sony 55 and Batis 85, which I had owned for years. I became more willing to re-evaluate my kit, try new options, and let go of lenses I was no longer using as much. I've ended up at a relatively lean kit for 2023.

My travel bag usually consists of an A7IV plus 3 lenses:
CV15 or Tamron 17-28/2.8
35GM or CV40 (now VM + Techart AF adapter)
Sigma 85/1.4 or Tamron 70-180/2.8

I also keep some non-Sony/film options in the mix though
