Had an unexpected opportunity to spend a few minutes with this little guy.

Z9/800mm f6.3

1) First sighting. For us both.

2) Time out to scratch and a good yawn.

3) Notice the subtle change in fur color just behind the front leg. I think maybe it is molting.

4) Checking me out.

5) Running on the beach.

6) Again the difference in fur color is noticeable.

this is one of the more difficult animals to photograph in nw indiana. they are rarely seen and aren't still very long. great pictures and thanks for sharing them.

They are fidgety things to shoot for sure. Good news is that they don't seem to be too fearful of people. At least the few that I've encountered.

Thanks, John. You certainly have to work quickly. For this set I relocated several times when the little guy ducked under rocks while hunting and couldn't see my movement.
