Forgive me, but none of the images are particularly sharp and I can point to missed focus on the majority of them. Conversely, I've seen the Z6II's competitor and have used it professionally. The images the R6, and R6II produce are substantially better. I'm not saying that Z6 and Z6II is a bad camera, it's not. I'm saying it's a poor camera for sports. It's AF and AF drive is just not fast enough for action.

Please, point to the missed focus. I'd be interested to know, when I can zoom in on my 4K monitor and see the eye in focus in the majority of them.

given that it's only 1/800th, motion blur with his head is probably part of the problem.

he stopped a slow f/5.6 lens down to f/8 and shot at 1/640th, of course the af is going to be weak and there will be excessive motion blur.

a used a9 for $2k or even less has better af than either of those cameras,

No one cares, the mere fact that a DSLR's AF is that much better only bolsters the argument that the Nikon Z6/6II etc. has terrible AF for action.

You can't, you do understand how panels and monitor resolution works...right?

Below are more shots from my Z6II. It is a perfectly capable body to use with sports and even better with native lenses. I generally shoot it in dynamic mode. There are two pics of each shot. One is the full sized uncropped image. The second is a heavily cropped images. If these don't show that these are sharp images and that the resolution does make a difference than I don't know what will. I am also showing and uncropped and straight out of the camera of a Barn owl flying toward me. I'm showing this one just to show you that resolution does make a difference when posting.

In the owl images taken with a Nikon Z9 and a 500pf are shot in raw. The first photo is taken in the 1500x2000. with a 300 resolution. The second cropped image was downloaded in a JPEG format with 100 percent resolution of the crop which puts the resolution of 900 MP. Now if you have some advice to show the photos at the best resolution and sharpness while following Fred Miranda's photo posting guidelines then I am all ears.

I have shot sports for the past two years with the Z6II. It is a very good camera for shooting sports and at high ISO's on dark fields with low light it excels. Like someone else said in this thread. You have to shoot it like a dslr. The Wide S and Wide L work okay. Most of the time I shoot in one of the dynamic area modes and it does and excellent job. Also, I was shooting with a 24-70 f2.8 G and a 70-200 f2.8 G. I then decided to trade in the 70-200 G for a

I think the X-H2S is great for sports, particularly with the 3.0 firmware update. Fuji doesn't have a great zoom for indoor sports though. The 50-140 f2.8 is okay and will give you acceptable results with good light, but I prefer the 90f2 and 50f2 for poorly lit gyms. You can get great results with those, but you need to move around.

I have the A9 and X-H2S. Both are very capable. The X-H2S tracking is not at Sony level but it isn't far off after the firmware update a few weeks ago.

I mainly shoot golf so I don't need tracking. But the higher burst rate that is actually usable from the stacked sensor setup is game changing in that it allows me to get the precise shot/moment I want.

I like both setups quite a bit. Indoor action pretty much always gets the A9 for obvious reasons. Video work gets X-H2S.

I know this didn't help with the Z6ii comparisons. But I thought I'd chime in. I very seriously considered the Z6ii based on the 14 FPS and the 400mm F/4.5 lens.

I shoot with the Fuji H2s and love it for wildlife and sports. I use EL shutter @40 fps. It's a superb camera with a stacked sensor.
A few from a recent lacrosse game.

Comments Welcomed.

Holy cow. This thread makes me think...

I've had good results shooting sports indoors with the Z6II. However, I agree the AF isn't fantastic. Anticipating the action is key. But my goodness, the images in this thread look great to me. I'm not sure where they lack focus.
