These are a couple photos taken back in 2008 with a 20D in an ikelite housing and a single Sea&Sea strobe. I don't get out to the ocean enough to justify getting a modern housing and I no longer have this housing setup. I do love the idea of underwater nature photography and occasionally browse through old photos from this trip. I was in my second year of college and drove from Nebraska down to Florida a few days after the first date with my future wife. I soaked my phone and lost contact with her, and she assumed I had intentionally broken off contact.
I got the housing and flash before the trip, thinking it would be the first of many dive/snorkel expeditions. It is now 2023 and I haven't gone since. I think this is why we take photos. We never really know how rare an experience is, and we can relive it years later when going through the photo collections.
The 20D was the greatest camera I could ever imagine myself using at the time. I had scraped up all my money as a second wedding photographer to buy it. Now, you can get them on Ebay for $50...hah. The color was not always great on the photos from this outing, so some do look better in black and white.
