Can anyone point me in the direction of a (or some) video(s) that explain how to do focus stacking with Photoshop WITHOUT starting in Lightroom first?

I seem to recall a method that uses Bridge then Photoshop that I tried a while back but I have been unsuccessful at finding that video again.

Any other easy-to-learn methods you'd care to suggest would be appreciated as well.

Thanks.

Key step is:
File > Scripts > Load Files Into Stack...

That will load your focus stack into layers. After that do the usual align and blend.

Here is a reasonable description of the process. https://www.photoshopbuzz.com/how-to-focus-stack/

Just curious...Did you happen to go on YouTube and search for an answer?

The Align Layers part works very well but the Blend Layers not so much, which is why people tend to use Helicon Focus or Zerene Stacker, or both.

dclark,
Thanks for the link, but it still starts out in Lightroom.

However, thanks to your "key step" comment a little light went on in my dusty little noggin and I was able to figure it out.

jforkner,
I'm gonna guess your question stems from the assumption that I didn't.......

Thanks for commenting nonetheless.

Peter,
Thanks for commenting. I checked out Helicon Focus a while back.

I think I figured it out for my meager needs without having to spend any more $$....at least for now.

You could also try Affinity Photo. While not as good as Helicon and Zerene, it does a pretty good job and is quite reasonably priced (especially during the current promotion).

I remember getting a lifetime license for Helicon for $150. Probably never see that price again.

I would also recommend Affinity Photo for focus stacking it’s easy (it needs to be Im not a natural with computer work) just load in the images and away it goes , good results too
It’s very reasonably priced too
