| p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Flaming Star Nebula in Narrowband with RGB Stars | |
So I upgraded my astro camera a number of months ago, which kicked off a number of issues to resolve. That, along with the monsoon moisture season down in AZ where my gear is located meant that it has been a while since I have been able to take any new data. I still have a few issues to work though, but I am finally able to collect data again and this image is the first one with the new astro camera and filters.
This is the Flaming Star Nebula, designation IC405, which is a relatively bright nebula in the constellation Auriga with both emission and reflection elements. It is estimated to be approximately 1,500 light years from Earth.
This image uses a modified SHO palette in narrowband to represent the nebula, with extra RGB data collection to represent the stars in natural light. Imaged from my own gear remotely located in Green Valley, AZ and controlled from Colorado. The total integration time through all 6 filters combined comes to more than 29 hours with the vast majority of that time devoted to collection of the nebulosity portions though narrowband filters.
As always comments and critiques welcome, and thanks for looking!
