Please suggest, preferably a single book, in both Photoshop and LR explained step by step, for beginner and advanced, compiled by experienced Photographers.

Thanks in advance...

The best books I've ever found are Dan Margulis' books. They're pretty old now but the principles they talk about never change. There's nothing at all in regards to Lr but a fair amount of Photoshop, but that doesn't matter. The single book that helped me the most was Dan's first book about L*a*b color called Photoshop L*a*b Space: The Canyon Conundrum. Once you understand why you need to do what you do then it's just a matter of understanding the tools to use to get to that point. A much better way that being told to do this or do that.

Finding a single book for both beginners and advanced photogs in landscape editing with PS & LR is probably too much to ask of a single source. And I think once you get into the more tricky techniques, you may be better served by video content as opposed to the written page (depends also on the topic).

Most video tutorials are produced by individual photographers. They'll often have free YouTube videos and then go into greater depth in their paid tutorials. You can go online, check out some of the videos and then decide on a paid course if you feel you need it. Places like skill share also have courses. (The free videos often use simple examples and gloss over problem areas and other details, so I do think paid content can be worthwhile).

If you don't already know the basics of PS & LR, I'd suggest getting a generalist course / tutorial / book on that first and then finding additional material for stuff specific to landscape photography.

One thing to keep in mind is that there are often multiple ways to do something, each with their own pros and cons. Video courses created by one person may lean heavily toward one method because that is what the instructor is familiar with.

Finally, depending on how much manipulation you want to do of your images, you'll need more complicated editing techniques. Sometimes these are better taught by full-time retouchers than landscape photogs. So don't ignore tutorials by say a fashion retoucher even though you are doing landscapes.

Thank you.
I am well aware of the function of PS and LR, with my printing industry experience.
But, I didnt do Photoshopping, designing, but getting done by my Staff Design employee.
I never thought PS may need in my life as I need it now desperatly.

If I go attend a PS class, they will start from Lesson 1 and all. I have to intention o becoming a Design man.
Just need to know how to lightening color, touchup, clone out distractions, add colors little bit, cropping...etc.

LR may do most of these functions, but for some we need PS: This is why I plan a book with both of these two, if available or two books.

Hi Peter Figen,
I will sure search and buy a USED copy of Dan Marguli's. That can give some intricate, indeapth knowledge on this highly technical subject, thanks.

Why would you not make use of Adobe's many free and excellent online tutorials?

I agree that the on-line tutorials from Adobe are good.
I also like Sean Bagshaws series on LR and PS. Bagshaw is an excellent teacher and the video tutorials are very well done. Some are free so you can sample them to see if his style suits you.

My preferred books are the ones by Martin Evening. They may be about to be updated, so you may want to wait a while.

Oh man, just heard Martin Evening passed away. I was wondering why there hadn't been any book updates in awhile.

Mostly because Adobe's tutorials, at the one's I've seen might show you how to use a tool or do a certain task, but will not help you learn the fundamentals of image correction the way Margulis has done like no other.
