Each April I get to share the beauty of the Lowlands of Costa Rica with a small group of photogs. One of my favorite places is the Tortuguero National Park which is a set of fresh water canals similar to the Brazil's Pantanal. The fun part is you never know what is around the next corner, which makes it exciting. Here are a few images from around the areas near San Jose.

What a beautiful and diverse set of images. It takes me back to my honeymoon where we visited the same park. Love the close ups!

Matt,
These are all stunning....
I've been to Costa Rica many times but never found areas around San Jose to be productive... it looks like you've got access to some nice habitat near Barulio Corrillo.
Love the clean toucan shots... iconic!

Hi Matt,

Superb photos, compositions and variety. How do you feel about adding a touch of contrast to the first? The close up of the eye grabbed my attention both because there is so much there and also it broke the pattern of what we see as I scrolled though this great set.

Thank you. Most places I go are about 1.5 hours from San Jose. I normally do a big circle around San Jose hitting the best spots.

Thanks Morris. Great idea on adding a bit more contrast to bring out the eye, I'll certainly do that.
