AMV8, I print a lot on aluminum now and have noticed a bit of the softness you mentioned. I thought it was me! Do you over sharpen a bit to compensate? Thanks.

While I haven't done a lot of experimentation, I don't think oversharpening will help much. The actual ink dots transferred to the aluminum are diffused/soft (try looking at one of your aluminum prints under a magnifying glass). I don't print on aluminum much because of this limitation. There used to be a different process called Allure by Breathing Color where the ink jet printed directly onto treated aluminum so there was no intermediate transfer sheet as with Chromaluxe. The aluminum prints using this process were noticeably sharper. However, my local lab said that Breathing Color was discontinuing the aluminum material and that they also had a fair amount of QA issues with it.
