We here in Maryland are lucky to have a halfway decent rail transportation from Martinsburg, WV to DC daily.
The Point of Rocks station is just a beautiful piece of architecture.

Just a a few miles down the southern track is the Dickerson station.

The just up the road from me is a privately owned railway.

Thanks Kent! Maryland was, still is, a very "train friendly" state. Outside the big cities, there are many nice olde rail stations that still carry people to DC to work or agri products, coal, freight to other cities.

---------------------------------------------Thanks Tom! Suzanne had a dental appt in the small agri town we grew up in today and we drove thru Main Street and there is nothing left! The city, County and State govt have destroyed the town!! There is a new train museum there now so I will be headed that way soon. The drug store where my father was the pharmacist is now a bar. The bank, the funeral home, the beauty salon....all gone to Section8 housing for blocks and downright UGLY buildings!! All the olde graineries are now bars or storage units!
There is only 1 Community left and it is protected by Federal Law, Washington Grove.

This quaint little community sits alone surrounded by immense residential and industrial growth. It is that growth that destroyed the small town my wife and I grew up in. All the houses are unique. It grew out of a need for residents living in Washington, DC to escape. Suzanne and I had lunch there yesterday in fact!

OH! I must post the towns railway station also. It is on the same rail line as the above stations but about 80%smaller.

The 2 houses I grew up in when we moved to Mary-land(1957) still stand and are in great shape. But a block in any direction and you just see chaos and destruction!
