I think this might be the same kind of twisty tree that Jim posted a recent photo of, except that his is larger and much more dramatic looking. All I know is that it's some kind of evergreen. It's about a block from my house next to the river.

PS--Actually, where we live it's constantly changing direction. Sometimes it comes off the lake to the south of us, other times off the lake that's north.
