p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · What‘s your “lover‘s lens“ for Sony?

I was wondering if there is a lens for Sony that you adore more than other lenses you own?

Perhaps because it feels incredibly good, i.e. it is very valuable/well built? Or because the image quality offers that certain something that distinguishes it from other lenses. Or because it always delivers, it's a real all-rounder... or… or… or.

I myself am still looking for that one special lens for Sony. Perhaps you have already found yours? So what is your “lover‘s lens“ for Sony and why?

The 40/2.5 G is hands down my favorite lens. Super sharp, small, light weight, and a decent selection of controls on it.

My desert-island lens would be the Voigtlander 40/1.2. It has that special sauce in the IQ department, not too big or heavy, good ergonomics (to me), well built. Manual focus, so not for everyone I know.

Second place is the Voigtlander 65/2. A little large, a bit heavy, in exchange for flawless performance and beautiful images.

I should note that I do not currently own any Sony-branded lenses, and only two AF lenses (Tamron 28-75 and Sigma 100-400). I have little doubt the GM lenses are outstanding and am considering trying them for myself.

No question the 50GM. I think it’s the best lens Sony has made. Close second would be the 35GM.

Loxia 25. I have had a smattering of Voightlander and GM lenses and at times I would have told you one of those. I come back to the Loxia though. Maybe it's the 25mm focal length, I did like the 24GM a lot. The lens just seems to look the best photo wise. It doesn't have the crystal clear shiny optics look of the APO Voightlanders that really impressed me, but it doesn't have the modern perfect GM look either. It's got to be the colors I suppose, and the pop, it's gentle and impressively sharp at the same time.

No special lens. I find all my lenses bring something different to the table. Each one provides a different focal length and a great 85mm lens just sucks when the image calls for a 25mm FOV.

Actualy the FE28f2 - because it is the lens I could survive on the lonly Island. It is so small and light but delivers as an allrounder on hikes, scouting camps, travel .... Wide enough for the smallest rooms, narrow enough for portraits

Hard to pick only one, but if I had to it would probably be 35-150 for its combination of features and IQ (pop, sharpness, bokeh, correction of aberrations that bother me the most, "extra" aperture, blistering AF, the difference in "look" between the wide and tele ends).
The only zoom that I really enjoy using and, on the other hand, it's hard to pick that "one" prime of them all .

I like being able to use lots of different lenses.

Sigma 45/2.8 just lovely images in a generally useful focal length. I am not a fan of how it feels. It is not valuable. It seems better built than most other lenses, but note the lack of sealing.

I don't love my most valuable lens, but the 200-600 G is pretty useful. I try not to think about how much I spent on it.

I prefer length over width. Sony 100-400mm or Tamron 150-500mm.

I love the 70-200GM ii. The rendering knocks me off my chair every time I shoot with it.

Tough to choose 1 since my shooting varies so much by type. But if I had to, I'd narrow it down to these 3 to cover the majority of things.

24 GM
50 GM
70-200 2.8 II

For me its hard to pick any favorite i love all my lenses lol

But the 70-200 gm ii and 50 gm really tend to stand out in their rendering and crisp to the images. I have many others but these two recently been really ticking all the boxes one could tick expect price 😁

I am dying to see if sony will make a 85 1.4 gm ii which i am sure they will likely next year.

I’ll probably say my Sigma 28mm f/1.4 DG HSM because I really like the FL. I have a bunch of lenses I love though.

Asking today I think I'd have to say the Voigtlander 40/1.2. It's my favorite focal length, it's amazing wide open, and works great stopped down.
