These little buggers are one of the toughest little flitty birds I've ever tried to capture. Still haven't gotten the shot I want but these are getting closer. Cute little guys but man... they need to lay off of the caffeine.

Dave - I'm guessing that they are pretty small along with being jacked up on caffeine. Great job in capturing tack sharp images !

Thanks Greg. Yes, they are very small, close to the size of a humming bird but a lot fatter. Which is what makes them so cute I think.

Nice work on a tough target, Dave. They are busy birds. Fortunately, they tolerate proximity better than many other small birds. If you want even more of a challenge keep your eye out for males displaying their bright red crown. Good luck

Thanks Vic. And yes they are very tolerant, which I've found to be a little too tolerant at times because they'll land within a few feet of your head which is never in the same direction your camera is facing.

Getting a male displaying his crown is the shot I was referring to that I still haven't gotten yet. I've seen them but have yet to ever get a decent shot of one. One of these days I'll get lucky I hope.

If it helps, you getting very close to that shot you are looking for! So how many pics do you have of where they 'were' ..............

They are a challenge, one of the most IMO. Hope that perfect shot is soon to be in your camera. These look very nice.
