There has been discussion here and other places about the Fuji GF 35-70's weak link being minimum focus distance at 70mm. BTW, this 70mm minimum focus provides a higher magnification than any other Fuji GF lens except the GF 120 macro. In testing my recently acquired on sale $499.95 copy I thought I would share my test photos of this particular setting for your information.
The photos below were processed in Adobe Camera Raw with the Abode Standard profile setting. All sliders were flat-unchanged. Sharpening and noise reduction were set at standard Adobe raw settings. The GFX 100S was tripod mounted and a 2 second self timer was used. IS was off, AF was on and the focus point was the 4 small black push buttons. I chose the best of two photos shot at each setting viewed at 102MP-200% on my Mac 5K monitor, there was extremely little variance between photos.
In viewing these uploaded files, which are very small as required by this site, I think you can immediately see the substantial jump in image quality from f/5.6 to f/8.0. In viewing the original 102MP files @ 200% the pixels polished up best at f/10. I'm good with that performance. That is what I have read that most (but not all) GF 35-70 lens owners have experienced.
GF 35-70mm @ 70mm f/5.6 (wide open) MFD
GF 35-70mm @ 70mm f/8 MFD
GF 35-70mm @ 70mm f/10 MFD
