I went out this weekend in search of a photo model to do some new lens/camera combination. and came across this helpful little mink. Your C&C greatly appreciated.

It seems like the 400 2.8's are doing an awesome job from a few of the manufactures Dave and you have got one fired up with the 2x treating you nicely! I really like that last one with dinner coming out from seclusion. Not sure if you were shooting handheld, tripod or monopod? I might look into working with a higher shutter speed. Crop #'s 1and 3 down a bit from the top and I think it strengthens them.
The shot on the log is really pretty and as you can see you don't have much DOF to work with with that combo but looks great to the eye

I like all of your images Dave. The first few have very bright foliage entering the frame from the top. You might want to crop or remove them or even just darken the foliage. I like seeing the mink with it's catch and licking it's lips as well.

Karl thank you so much for the comments and advice. This was the first day with the 2X TC. I really like it so far. These were all shot with a monopod. But I will say even though it is almost the same weight the shorter length makes it noticeably easier to hand hold over the 600 F4. Rob Amy was right as come be on that. Now if I only had Rob's big pipes I would be away to the races. But for once and a while very helpful.
