Deadvlei is a white clay pan inside the Namib-Naukluft Park in Namibia. Also written DeadVlei or Dead Vlei, its name means "dead marsh". This used to be a riverbed, but when the weather shifted the river dried up, leaving trees to die in its wake. These trees are about 700 years old, but with the incredibly dry climate they continue to stand. Hard to do it justice, here are a few from our early morning visit.

A wonderful collection of images of this barren landscape. The lean "fox" is an added bonus and adds reinforces the harshness of this environment. Nice work.

The first two images are my picks. You managed to put your stamp on a much-photographed location.

I wish you have more depth of field in the jackal image, but it may have happened quickly for you to adjust settings.

I wish I had as well. Honestly I didn't even know the jackal was right next to me (these were taken with 24-70) until someone else motioned for me to turn around..I only had time to snap two quick images before the jackal was too far away, heading away from me.

Love the tones with warm dunes backed by the cool blue sky in the first two images. #2 is my pick. Nice clean and simplistic vibe.
Extra points for capturing a shot of the critter sneaking behind you.
