Deadvlei is a white clay pan inside the Namib-Naukluft Park in Namibia. Also written DeadVlei or Dead Vlei, its name means "dead marsh". This used to be a riverbed, but when the weather shifted the river dried up, leaving trees to die in its wake. These trees are about 700 years old, but with the incredibly dry climate they continue to stand. Hard to do it justice, here are a few from our early morning visit.
