from a sheer visual aspect, it a better/interesting design execution then another somewhat similar one. i can't say anything about its actual mechanical/physical attributes though. they had a nifty bunch of excitable "influencers" showing it online. just something to look at.

I wonder if having the mini tripod 3 legs locked together might actually be more stable then a single center column. Do you think this is just someone pushing the boundaries of stealing PD's design? Or is this just the actual manufacturer of the "PD" branded tripod getting free from some limited time non-compete agreement?

being that i have only seen essentially what you see. for me, i don't see any of the PD in it. the flat panel "legs" fill the view. so i really don't think of it as stealing at all. i see it as a busy design personally. my tripod can either have a CP or not as it is a modular design, and it does easily convert to a simpler even more rigid legset.

The 3 leg mini acting as the center column just seems iffy to me.

Shooting a crab like this seems hilarious, I never would have thought to do this.

many in this class/price point of tripod can be considered "iffy" to an extent. i just own one of the not iffy ones around for over 10 years

It seems pretty interesting to me. PD at 1/2 price.

I've never participated in kickstarter programs before. But I did sign up for this one on a whim. I'll report back once I get it. The ETA is March '23.

So have you received it and if so, would you recommend it? Having left my Leofoto 324 at home a few times due size, thinking I could do with something smaller.

From my user perspective going through quite a few tripods from high-end to garbage, the Heipi has the following pluses and and annoyances:
Pluses:
- Be able to pack to a small, dense package.
- Has the 2-in-1 functional tripod combo. Tripods in this class need an extra step of changing out the center column to get to ground level (not something I want to do in the field).
- Built-in spike feet.
- Good stability
- Flip locks can take less time to operate than twist locks.

Annoyances:
- Rattling hook.
- Angle locks are small and hard to operate. When the legs are fully out, I can't engage the locks on mine to change the angle.
- The hook can't be used without raising the center column.
- Raising and lowering the center column is hard/not smooth.

In short, I'm not 100% happy with the purchase but will continue using it. It has some features that other tripods do not have.
