My wife and I were viewing the elk from one of the many viewing points set up in Elk County PA. One is advised to stay back 100 yards for your safety and the evening before the elk were about 200 yards away so I set up with my 500mm PF + 1.7x TC on my Fuji X-H2s (APS-C) on tripod which provided plenty of reach. This was the correct setup till one of the bulls lead his haram away from the heard and up a hill in front of us. Soon I found I had too much lens and removed the TC and a bit later even without the TC I had too much lens. After taking some head shots, I stood and watched till they moved back again. As I talked with others I hoped for them to move in front of some of the nice fall color. Enjoy the show!
