RF 100-400 is a must have for R7 owners, it combines stealthiness (in terms of size, weight and color) of EF-S 55-250 with reach of EF 100-400 without sacrificing image quality. Perfect urban assault weapon when using expensive looking big white lenses are an invitation to getting mugged.

The EF 100-400 f/5.6 is far superior optically.

So what? It is bigger, heavier, and more expensive. Just because a lens is far superior optically to another one it does not mean it is superior to another one that can be more suitable for certain individuals. I bet a lot of better photos have been taken with the RF than the EF because the the RF was in the hands of better photographers, or simply because they found the RF more efficient for them to use.

One thing people might not be considering (with both this lens and Canon's f/11 DO super-telephotos) is that diffraction will naturally limit the absolute sharpness achievable, especially on APS-C. (And hence, the sharpness of the lens itself is masked somewhat by this.)

I think this lens is solid for its price and will help a lot of shooters get images they maybe could not afford to get before (either due to cost, or size/weight).

If you don't mind me asking and I know all shots may require different post processing, would you be willing to share what you basically do to most photos? I've seen so many of your photos with the R7 & RF 100-400 that are absolutely beautiful. Your skill with the equipment is the biggest reason, but are there any post processing tips you may have to help some of us?

Thanks. Basically, I just make simple adjustments of exposure, shadows, highlights, and sometimes increase contrast and vibrance a little bit in Adobe Camera Raw. I used to apply Neat Image to the background only to reduce noise and Smart Sharpen only to the subject as the final adjustments. I no longer use Neat Image and am now applying Topaz DeNoise AI to all the image before downsizing.

This photo of a Killdeer had hardly any post-processing adjustments to it and was taken with an Olympus M4/3 camera.
