p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Sun Voyager midnight glow- Reykjavík, Iceland

I had the opportunity to photograph this iconic sculpture during my visit on a day when it rained on and off all day. This gleaming steel sculpture on Reykjavik's splendid waterfront that resembles a Viking long-ship is the 'Solfar' or 'Sun Voyager. This image was taken on or past midnight. There was a thick cloud covering but at the horizon there was a small opening and the setting sunlight hitting the Sun Voyager gave a nice pink glow. Here is my version of Sun Voyager.

Some interesting facts: The Sun Voyager is a sculpture by Jón Gunnar Árnason, located next to the Sæbraut road in Reykjavík, Iceland. Sun Voyager is described as a dreamboat, or an ode to the Sun. The artist intended it to convey the promise of undiscovered territory, a dream of hope, progress and freedom.

Thanks for viewing and welcome all CC

Parul - I think the first one is the best composition overall and you got just the right mood of impending rain at dusk. Nice job.

The glow is lovely in all of them. Composition-wise my pick is #2 because it clears the building in the distance and there is also separation in the fingers of the rearmost prong.

I agree with Rajan on this Parul! For the exact reason!
Was he your guide?

Great images!

I'll answer that, Dan. I wasn't his guide but we met when he was in Reykjavík and went for a spin around town in my car during which time Parul managed to get some photography done.

The glow of the sun on the silvery metal really is quite beautiful! Wonderful compositions, especially no. 2 and interesting backstory!

Thank you Rajan, I completely agree about the composition. I need to pay more attention to detail. In fact as I look thru the images on my phone. I think the best image was captured from my iphone! Wonderful memories of that evening.
