Hi all - did some digging around here and MU-43 and couldn't find a very satisfying answer on this.

Has anyone tried out this combo yet? If so, how was the autofocus, specifically on the OM-1? I had purchased an MC-20 to go with my 300 Pro when it first came out but found the C-AF too unstable on my EM1-II. Curious to see if that has improved with the new body.

Full disclosure - I've already purchased an MC-20 from a forum member and going to shoot an airshow in two weekends... so if nothing else, I will be the guinea pig

without altering any camera (BIF) settings, i recently tried the MC20 with the 150-400 (and OM-1) and received a less than paltry sum of (BIF) keepers. static/perched birds faired better.
i changed the min shutter speed from 1/2500 to 1/4000, for use with the 150-400 and MC20 and received a much better keeper rate.
all handheld.
I, almost exclusively, used either of the TCs with the 4/300 and EM1X before I had the OM-1 and 150-400.

so...my advice to you is up your normal shutter speed(s) when the MC20 is attached.

Good advice, thank you! Did the AF seem to function pretty reliably, just need to bump the shutter speed?

Of course you are losing two f-stops of light with the 2X and even more loss with increasing shutter speeds.

Indeed. Pick your poison…lose images to AF misses or deal with IQ loss from high ISOs.
I can better deal with ISO noise than soft out of focus.

Yes, the individual should test an image taken with the bare lens upsized to match the size of the subject taken with the 2x.

Depending on conditions, upsizing in post-processing could produce a sharper image than the one taken with the extender.
