Caught this American Kestrel, and I was mostly unprepared. I did have the camera set on 2000ss, f/6.3, 250ISO (auto ISO), +.7EV, and fired off a burst. I needed more EV, I think, and probably should have had a ss of 2500 or more.

Cropped it a bit, and finagled just about everything to get a somewhat decent image. Sony a7iii, and the 200-600 lens.

I think you balanced the exposure well. More exposure may have washed out the sky, lifting shadows on a low ISO like this is easy. Good color, nice look to this Kestrel that looks like it might be in 'hover' mode.
